Health Plan Disclosure Requirements for Prescription Drugs
Under the ACA transparency-in-coverage (TiC) rules and provisions of the CAA, group health plan sponsors must both disclose and report detailed information regarding a plan’s prescription drug coverage and costs. There is significant overlap under the two sets of disclosure rules, which has led to confusion regarding compliance. Recent CMS guidance provided some technical clarifications to certain required Report elements, but it also sparked more confusion among plan sponsors as to applicable deadlines.
Inflation Reduction Act Contains Some Health Reforms
On Aug. 12, 2022, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Inflation Reduction Act, and it is expected to be signed into law shortly. While this bill is primarily aimed at fighting inflation and reducing carbon emissions, it also contains a number of reforms that will impact health coverage.
